What Can I Expect During My Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

When you visit our Palatine office, you can discuss with Dr. Moon about how your wisdom teeth are positioned. He and our team will take digital X-rays to assess their alignment and position in your jaw. If you experience pain, infections, or other complications, he will recommend extraction. Ignored, your condition could worsen until more invasive procedures are needed.

Once our dentist determines extraction is the best course of action, we will perform or schedule the procedure as soon as possible. Our dentist will numb your mouth with local anesthesia. We also offer oral sedation to make you as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

When your mouth is numb, our dentist will remove the tooth. We may have to cut into the gum tissue or jaw bone if the tooth is impacted. In this case, we will suture the area shut to promote healing.
